(N/A) Location: The Casparian strip is located in the endodermis of the root.
Role in water movement: The endodermal cells have deposition of water-impermeable,waxy material called suberin in the form of Casparian strips. Due to this, water molecules are unable to penetrate the endodermis through the apoplast pathway. Consequently, water is forced to enter the cytoplasm of the endodermal cells through the cell membrane, thereby switching from the apoplast pathway to the symplast pathway to reach the xylem.
